Artistica 4th Friday Event Features Fused Glass Creations

  • July 26, 2012

Linda Todd, a new vendor at Artistica in Dexter, will have a show from 5-8 p.m. July 27. Items include fused glass earrings and jewelry.

After retiring from a career in education, Linda Todd initiated a new career in the creation of art. She began her with work with glass and beads and then experimented with a variety of techniques, discovering that fusing glass was what she loved most.

In addition to regular glass, Linda uses dichroic glass, which gives different tones of color depending on which direction it is viewed from. She usually cuts the glass first, piecing together different designs and then grinds the pieces into different shapes. She shares that "it is like Christmas morning everyday when I open my kiln after my glass has cooled overnight."

Linda not only creates necklaces, bracelets and earrings but has started making wind chimes, nightlights, sun catchers, wine stoppers, letter openers and even shawl pins.

Another interest of this artist is collecting vintage beads and crystals which she is able to incorporate into her sun catchers. She has also begun silver smithing in her studio so that she can set her glass into silver for her jewelry and other pieces.

Join Artistica on July 27 for art, refreshments and camaraderie.
