Tax Assistance for Seniors

CSS/Older Adult Services is offing tax assistance at the Dexter Senior Center through March 24.  Appointment times begin at 9 a.m. Volunteers will only allocate enough time for simple tax returns.

Dexter Senior Center members should make their appointments early and plan to bring full income information for 2010 (W2 and 1099 forms) 2010 winter and summer property tax bills or rent paid, last year's tax or credit forms and anything else which can be useful.

The program is asking for a donation based on income.  To schedule an appointment, contact the Dexter Senior Center at 734-426-7737.

On tax assistance days there will be no Lifestyle Fitness or Euchre.  

Free Notary Service

Kate Mulligan from TCF Bank in downtown Dexter will be at the Dexter Senior Center to provide free notary services at 11:30 a.m. on the second Monday of each month.  Bring a valid ID.  If you don't need anything notarized, stop by and meet Mulligan and receive a free coin counting coupon.  This coupon will allow non-account holders to have loose coins counted free of charge at the TCF bank.

Nurses Foot Care

On Feb. 23, preventive, basic foot care will be offered by Ava Passino of Nurses Foot Care Services at the senior center. Members of the senior center receive $5 off their first appointment.  The fee for this service is $34.  Make an apointment by calling 734-878-7330.

Virtual Garden Tour

Forget the cold.  Go on a tour of gardens on March 18, when Kathy Squiers, Washtenaw County Parks horticulturalist will be at the Dexter Senior Center to take residents to the colorful gardens in the various county parks.  The virtual tour will be directed by Squiers who has tended the gardens for over 12 years.

New Yoga Session

A new six-week session of Yoga exercises begins at 9 a.m. March 14 at the senior center. The cost is $36 for members of the center and $46 for non-members.  The class runs through April 18.
