Set aside Sept. 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to help collect trash, meet and greet others, and trade stories and information at the annual Huron River Clean-up Day.
Participants who wish to work with other volunteers are encouraged to meet at 10 a.m. at Schultz Outfitters in Ypsilanti or Skip's Canoe Livery in Ann Arbor. Please email Jason Frenzel at the Huron River Watershed Council to register for the clean-up at jfrenzel@hrwc.org.
Participants who wish to work independently are asked to pick a section of the river, work with friends or alone, with a canoe/boat or on foot (waders generally preferred) and some heavy duty trash bags and gloves.
Trash can be dropped off between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at one of two collection sites: West Delhi Metropark, 3902 E Delhi Road, Ann Arbor or Riverside Park, 5 E. Cross Street, Ypsilanti.
Skip's Canoe Livery and Schultz Outfitters will provide canoes. Boat requests must be made by Sept. 13 to jfrenzel@hrwc.org.
Clean-up volunteers are requested to provide their own gear to collect the river trash. A list of suggested gear can be found at www.hrwc.org/our-work/programs/huron-river-clean-up.
Grilled hotdogs will be provided at Schultz Outfitters at 3 p.m.
