Celebrate Valentine's Day Locally in Dexter

Keep your dollars in town while celebrating Valentine's Day with your loved ones this year.

 

As Valentine’s Day draws near, we always seem to be constricted by that suffocating question of “What do I buy?” Luckily, local businesses around Dexter have alleviated the stress of Valentine’s Day to make it easy and enjoyable. Here is just a sample of some ideas for that special someone.

Sweet Treats

If your significant other has a sweet tooth, head over to Stucchi's of Dexter for some handmade gourmet chocolates. For those looking for a more traditional selection, the Dexter Bakery offers an assortment of cookies, pies and baked goods. Check out our Valentine's candy price comparison and stop by Country Market and Busch's to pick up a variety of candy (both sugar and sugar free) for the big day. Little Green Apple and Dexter Pharmacy are also both selling boxed candy and other goodies.

Jewelry

Last-minute shoppers are sure to find something pleasing from The Jewerly Box Boutique to bring home to their loved ones. Browse the boutique's selection of purses and handmade jewelry in a variety of designs. The boutique is open Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from noon to 7 p.m.; 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturdays; and Sundays by appointment.

Flowers

There are a couple of places in Dexter where you can pick up some fresh flowers for Valentine's Day. Patch recommends Hearts & Flowers or Dexter Flowers on Main Street. Flowers are also available at Busch's and Country Market.

Dining Out

Are you looking for a nice romantic night out? Try any of these Dexter eateries offering special Valentine's Day packages:

  • Aubree's Pizzeria: Aubree's is offering dinner and dessert for two people at $25. Choices include spaghetti and meatballs, macaroni and cheese, fish and chips, beef medallions and diablo steak pasta, among others.
  • Terry B's: The restaurant is offering a Valentine's Day dinner from 5-9 p.m. Advanced reservations are required. Call 734-426-3727.
  • Red Brick Kitchen & Bar: The Red Brick will be offering a special Valentine's Day menu. Selections include: Pork wontons or crab rangoons, roasted red pepper and portobello crostini, jumbo sea scallops served with jasmine rice tip pilaf, and pasta primavera.

Evening Entertainment

The Purple Rose Theatre in Chelsea is offering a special Valentine's Day showing of A Stone Carver. Tickets are $25 with discounts available to students, seniors and teachers. Tickets can be purchased online at www.purplerosetheatre.org.
