Jewelry Box Boutique Opens Location in Dexter Crosssing
The business is one of several new tenants planned for the shopping complex on Dexter-Ann Arbor Road.
Tenants in the Dexter Crossing shopping complex on Dexter-Ann Arbor Road will soon have a new neighbor.
The Jewelry Box Boutique, previously located inside the Cleaning Goddesses at 7940 Ann Arbor St., is relocating to add more space for inventory. The boutique will be located between H&R Block and GNC in the shopping complex.
"We're really excited to expand the business to Dexter Crossing," owner Melissa Duncan said. "The building landlords are looking hard to fill up space in the shopping outlet, and having the extra foot traffic is just something I couldn't pass up."
Duncan said she will retain her cleaning business at its current location, but plans to add more jewelry, purses, accessories, and gifts at the new store.
Duncan signed the lease for the location last month, and said she has been busy planning for her grand opening scheduled to coincide with the "Home for the Holidays" Christmas festival in Dexter this weekend.
"We're hoping to be open by Friday," Duncan said.
She said the new store will include a brand new showroom and more space to accommodate customers.
"Our location on Ann Arbor Street is great for The Cleaning Goddesses, but a lot of people were unaware we had the jewelry business as well," she said. "At first I was dreading the task of moving, but it's been exciting seeing the store take shape. Figuring out where everything will go is like painting on a fresh canvas."
The business is one of several planned to fill and revitalize the shopping complex in the near future, according to Nick Zager, director of Oxford Commercial.
"There's a lot of activity going on at Dexter Crossing," Zager said. "We're doing what we can to fix the mall and make it a prime shopping destination."
Oxford Commercial purchased the Dexter Crossing building in the spring, and has since poured thousands of dollars into upgrades, including resurfacing the parking lot, adding accessibility from Dexter-Ann Arbor Road and the Dexter Crossing subdivision, and actively pursuing tenants for the vacant properties.
"We're pursuing every opportunity to find the best tenants for the village," Zager said.
Though he was mum on certain prospects, Zager said the company has been trying to relocate the Dexter Post Office from Baker Road, as well as adding another restaurant to anchor the mall at Dan Hoey Road.
Zager declined to comment on what type of restaurant could move into the mall.
"We believe there's an incredible value with Dexter Crossing and the community in general. We wouldn't have purchased the property if we didn't feel it had long-term value going forward," he said.
