I think some of the commenters here need to google the "tu quoque" logical fallacy. If the Democratic Party did what the Tea Party Republicans are doing now, then shame on the Democrats. That doesn't change the fact that what the Republicans are doing is unethical and more improtantly, highly unconstitutional & illegal. To all of the Republicans, I will go on the record stating this in reference …   more ›

UPDATE: Romney Supporters Eagerly Back Their 'Hometown Hero' After Close Win in Michigan

'I was confident we could come together today and take a giant step toward a brighter future,' Bloomfield-area native tells backers after a tense primary day.

NOVI – Mitt Romney was looking for a little home cooking, and he got it. The son of former Michigan Gov. George Romney who was born and raised in Bloomfield Hills needed a win to stop surging opponent Rick Santorum and ease fears that he couldn’t take a state in which the economy is the issue. He ended up taking what many political pundits called a "must win" with 43 percent of the vote statewide and overwhelming support in Oakland and Wayne counties. “It’s a big, big win and I just wanted to come down here and join the rally and the celebration,” Troy resident Bill McNeil said after leaving the ballroom where Romney gave his victory speech at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. “I was a little worried earlier today when I saw the …

Campaign Briefs: 'Two Cadillacs' Backfire into Harsh Headlines for Romney

Obama spots add to TV blitz; Troy primary night party set; candidate's Brighton tale stars 'frugal dad.'

Patch presents a Michigan presidential campaign roundup. Mitt Romney earns a point for openness, but risks losing it for over-sharing. "I like the fact that most of the cars I see (locally) are Detroit-made automobiles," he told Detroit Economic Club members on Friday. "I drive a Mustang and a Chevy pickup truck. Ann drives a couple of Cadillacs, actually." He was referring to his wife's 2007 and 2010 SRX models at their Massachusetts and California homes, aides explained. (Speech excerpt video embedded at right.) The off-script remark created a bull's-eye too inviting to ignore. "That's rich, literally," ex-Detroiter Charles Blow writes in his New York Times column. That was one poke among plenty, a headline sampling shows: Slate blogger …

Michigan 'Power Outsiders' Would Choose Mitt Romney for Nomination

Local influential Republicans say they like Romney's business background, confidence and principles.

A survey of influential southeast Michigan Republicans shows a clear preference for Mitt Romney over Rick Santorum for the Republican presidential nomination. According to the latest Power Outsiders survey conducted by The Huffington Post and Patch, eight of 12 Michiganders surveyed said they would choose Romney if the race for the Republican nomination came down to a choice between Romney and Santorum. The HuffPost-Patch GOP Power Outsiders poll reaches out to political activists, party officials and officeholders to observe the critical "invisible primary" that is usually a strong leading indicator of the preferences of voters in a presidential nomination. While our Republican respondents are outsiders from the perspective of Washington…
