Wild Game Dinner, Golf Outing to Raise Money for Vets

Livingston County Democrats are planning their first ever wild game dinner and golf scramble this fall to provide support to Livingston County organizations that help military veterans.

The event is set for Saturday, Oct. 12, at Ironwood Golf Club, 6902 E. Highland Rd., Howell. Proceeds will be shared with Stiggy’s Dogs, a Howell Township organization that provides support dogs to veterans with Post Traumatic Stress, and with a Brighton veterans’ post, the American Spirit Center.

"This event is part of our party’s community outreach," said Judy Daubenmier, Livingston County Democratic Party chair. "Few people realize that besides working in the political arena, Livingston County Democrats regularly collect cash, clothing and other personal items for patients at the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor, as well as donating each holiday season to Gleaners Community Food Bank and participating three times a year in the Michigan Department of Transportation’s roadside cleanup program known as Adopt-a-Highway.

"Helping make our community a better place to live is one of the core values we hold as Democrats, and this event is a fun, new way to put our values into action. It is especially exciting for us to give a helping hand to those who sacrificed so much serving our nation."

Daubenmier said the party hopes to raise at least $1,000 for Stiggy's Dogs and an additional amount for the American Spirit Center.
