Connexions Church Stocks Faith in Action Food Pantry as Winter Approaches

Volunteers collected food and winter clothes for needy families in Chelsea and Dexter on Sept. 30.

A community-wide effort to stock up the Faith in Action food pantries in Chelsea and Dexter on Sept. 30 was a success.

Connexions Church in Dexter collected more than 56 boxes of nonperishable food and 18 boxes of winter clothes for the nonprofit during its annual food and clothing drive.

Roughly 50 adults and youth participated in the church's "Reaching Out with Compassion and Kindness" (ROCK) event, during which volunteers sorted, folded, and packed the clothes to deliver to Faith in Action. All of the food will be delivered to the pantry this week.

In addition to food and clothes, cash donations totaling $125 were collected, which will be given to FIA to help with pantry operations.

"Connexions Church wishes to thank everyone who donated so generously in a spirit of compassion to help our neighbors in need," Brian Clapham said in a press release.
