LaFontaine Donates Equipment to Dexter Little League

The contributions come as players prep for Saturday's opening-day festivities at Mill Creek Middle School.

Dexter Little League received a big boost this week through a partnership with .

As part of the National Chevy Youth Baseball Program, the league will receive new equipment, instructional clinics, a monetary donation and an opportunity for the club to raise additional funds via a Chevrolet vehicle giveaway promotion.

The sponsorship is part of a national initiative through July.

“Baseball is a great American pastime and Chevrolet is proud to have a longstanding history with this tradition on a national level," Matt LaFontaine, the dealership's general manager, said in a written statement. "LaFontaine Chevrolet is bringing that level of commitment for youth baseball to the Dexter community, where our customers and their families live.

“Our youth baseball program in Dexter is truly cherished and we are happy and excited to support the kids in a significant way," LaFontaine said.

LaFontaine Chevrolet will present the Dexter Little League with equipment kits complete with equipment bags, baseball buckets, dry-erase coach’s clipboards and Chevy Youth Baseball T-shirts on Saturday. The sponsorship also includes clinics with experienced instructors from former MLB/MiLB players and coaches.

In addition, sponsored leagues across the country will each receive 2,000 Chevrolet vehicle fundraiser tickets to distribute for a suggested donation, and the league will keep 100 percent of proceeds raised.

At the end of the fundraiser, there will be five winners of a Chevy Equinox or Chevy Cruze vehicle of choice, up to $30,000 in value, along with a home entertainment center valued at $1,000.

The Dexter Little League season opens Saturday with the league’s annual opening-day extravaganza at . There will be flower and bake sales to help raise funds for the league, games, concessions and a parade. All players will participate in the parade, marching behind banners representing their teams.
