News Briefs: Athletic Booster Club Hosts Trivia Night; TOPS Officers Honored at Banquet

Trivia Night set for April 29

The Athletic Booster Club of Dexter is hosting their annual trivia night at 7 p.m. April 29, at the . 
 
The cost is $15 per person. Participants must be 21 and over to attend.  Questions range from sports, to politics and useless knowledge.
 
Each table will have eight to 10 players and the winning table will win a cash prize for the Dexter High School athletic team of their choice. The proceeds from the event will go to the 26 athletic programs at DHS.

Dexter's TOPS officers honored at banquet

Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) of Dexter held its annual awards and officer recognition banquet on March 30 at the . At the banquet, all current officers committed to serving a second year while other members of the club were honored for special achievements.
 
The officers for the 2011-2012 year are: Debbie Donohue of Pinckney (leader), Sally Nimitz of Dexter (co-leader), Jodi Manny of Ann Arbor (secretary), Stephanie Pyne of Dexter (treasurer), Sherry Thackrey of Dexter (weight recorder) and Louise Howland of Dexter (assistant weight recorder).

Special recognition of Most Inspirational Members, voted on by the membership, went to Debbie Donohue and Cheryl Green of Chelsea. Three members were recognized for their Keep Off Pounds Sensibly (KOPS) status by reaching and maintaining their goal weight for at least one year.

KOPS members recognized include Theresa Rutkowski of Dexter (five years), Mary Marks of Dexter (four years), and Betty Davenport of Dexter (one year). 

TOPS meets every Wednesday evening at the Dexter Senior Center. New members are always welcome. Weigh-in is at 6:30 p.m. with the meeting following at 7 p.m.

TOPS men and women learn health and diet tips during programs held at their weekly chapter meetings. Weekly dues are $1 with a yearly membership fee of $26, which includes a magazine subscription.
