Religious Briefs: All Pro Dad Group Meets at Peace Lutheran Church; Winter Clothing Drive Planned

Here is a look at some upcoming charitable events going on in Dexter.

All Pro Dad Group Meets

Fathers and sons from Dexter, Chelsea and Ann Arbor are invited to attend the All Pro Dad's Day on Oct. 15 at Peace Lutheran Church in Dexter.

The All Pro Dad program is sponsored by Family First, a national nonprofit organization based in Tampa, FL, that promotes the importance of fatherhood. The program was launched in 1997 with the help of former Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy.

All Pro Dad's Day is a one-hour monthly breakfast where fathers and their children meet with other dads and children. During this time, they discuss a wide range of family topics, spend time together, create fun memories and are equipped with resources to strengthen their relationship.

The Dexter event begins at 9 a.m. and is free and open to local families. E-mail larrycourson@peaceaa.net or call 734-424-0899 to make reservations.

Connexions Church Plans Food, Clothing Drive

in Dexter will hold its annual collection of food and winter clothing for Faith In Action (FIA) from 9 a.m.-noon Oct. 16. Residents may drop off donations of nonperishable food and winter clothing at the main entrance of , where church members will collect the items.

All food will be taken to the Dexter Food Pantry, which is operated by FIA at 2822 Baker Rd. Winter clothing for children and adults, either new or gently used, will be sorted and delivered to FIA's main office in Chelsea.

FIA provides assistance to people in need who live within the Dexter and Chelsea school districts. FIA also accepts monetary donations to help operate the Dexter food pantry. For more information, call 734-645-9052.
