Spring Sale Helps Fund Local Church's Mission Trips

Dexter United Methodist Church sees record turnout for its annual rummage sale.

Organizers for this year's spring rummage sale at on April 30 are reporting record donations. More than 40 families donated their gently used items to the church.

The sale is one of the biggest in the county, according to Pastor Matt Hook. The sale featured baby furniture, cribs, toys and stuffed animals, sports equipment and bicycles.  Some lucky shoppers showed up early to get deals on major household appliances such as washers anddryers as well as living room sofas.  Sale items also included clothing for men, women and children.

DUMC member and event organizer Sharon Wheeler said she was happy with the turnout.

“It seems to get bigger and busier every year,” Wheeler said. 

The sale raised $13,000, which will be used to fund the church's mission trips throughout the year.
