Chelsea Area Players Hold Auditions for 40th Anniversary Show

Auditions will be held on Saturday at St. Mary's Church in Chelsea.

CHELSEA — The Chelsea Area Players will hold auditions for its upcoming show, CAPtivating Rhythms: Lovers, Liars and Clowns on Saturday.

The show pays tribute to CAP's 40 years of musical theater performances. Auditions for adults, teens and children will be held at St. Mary Church, 14200 E. Old US-12 in Chelsea. Auditions will be held from noon to 3 p.m.

Individuals who plan to audition should sign up before 2 p.m. on Saturday. Auditioners will be seen in the order they arrive. You will not be asked to stay for the entire time.

To audition, prepare 16 bars from one of the following musicals (or in the style of these shows): Beauty and the Beast, Crazy for You, Godspell, Hello, Dolly!, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, My Fair Lady, Pirates of Penzance, Rocky Horror Show, The Sound of Music, Suds, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown!, Aladdin, Jr., Alice in Wonderland, Jr., A Boy, A Girl, the Beatles, Fiddler on the Roof, Jr., Guys and Dolls, Jr., Seussical, Jr., Wonka.

Actors should bring sheet music for their performance, with the 16 bars clearly marked. An accompanist will be provided. Actors should also bring a current photo, performance resume, guitar or other instrument that can be played with confidence, and additional talents you wish to share (cartwheels, juggling, a short monologue, etc.).

Callbacks, if needed, will be held from 6-10 p.m. May 13.

Performance dates are July 20-22, at the Washington Street Education Center. Rehearsals are evenings, and some weekends.

"We want to bring out the best in everyone to make this a magnificent show, so bring your most fun and and open-hearted you to auditions," director Carrie Jay Sayer said.
