Chelsea Art Festival Seeks Entries

The Sounds & Sights Festival Art Market returns this July.

The 37th Annual Sounds & Sights Festival held in downtown Chelsea is seeking regional artists and crafts people of outstanding quality for its juried Art Market, according to a press release.

Sounds & Sights Festival Art Market is an indie arts and crafts fair coinciding with a variety of festivities and attractions associated with the Chelsea Sounds & Sights Festival, which begins the evening of Thursday, July 25 with Art Market running Friday and Saturday, July 26 and 27, noon to 8 p.m. The two-day, three-night festival draws more than 15,000 visitors annually and features national and regional live music acts, local food and brew, a sculpture walk and activities for the entire family.

“This year more than ever, we are seeking unique exhibitors to freshen, edge and hip-up the Art Market,” said Patty Schwarz, Art Market Program Coordinator and Director of River Gallery + Exhibits.  “Helen Gotlib and Dylan Strzynski are assisting the Art Market committee this year and we are really excited about their young energy and fresh ideas. Both are full time working artists who make their living doing art fairs, so their perspective has been really important.”

The Art Market is a juried event limited to 30 local and regional arts and crafts people of exceptional quality. Artists willing to demonstrate their processes are also highly sought. Booth fee is $100 for the weekend. Demonstrating artists participate for the reduced rate of $50.
