Dexter Art Festival Seeks Artists

The first "plein air" festival will be held this August.

The first "Paint Dexter" art fair is this summer and artists are wanted to participate.

The "plein air" festival will be held Aug. 13-17.

Artists are invited to set up around Dexter and paint or draw outdoors during the festival, which is sponsored by the Dexter Arts, Culture, and Heritage Committee

There will also be a quick draw event on Aug. 17 from 9 a.m. to noon.

The plein air works will be jurored by award-winning Michigan artist, Frits Hoendervanger. The quick draw will be jurored by Dee Overly. Awards will be given at 3 p.m. on Aug. 17.

The art will be available for purchase.

Artists are encouraged to apply early to take advantage of early bird registration rates.

A call for artists has been issued for a "friendly troll" sculpture that will be placed along the Border to Border Trail that crosses Mill Creek.

Dexter Community School students are invited to submit design ideas for banners that will be placed on downtown banner poles.
