Dexter Community Band Donates $1,400 to Torando Relief Fund

The band will hold its final concert of the season on April 29 at Dexter High School.

Members of the Dexter Community Band resumed their regular practice schedule on March 22, a week following the . By the end of the two-hour rehearsal, more than $1,400 was quietly donated by the musicians, several of whom had sustained damages to their own homes in the storm.

“I’m proud to be a member of this band,” said Karla Linkner, band president. “We’ve certainly given back to the community with physical help and now monetary donations.”

The band’s final performance of the 2011-12 season will take place on April 29 at 3 p.m. at the , under the direction of William Gourley. The concert is free and open to the public.
