Editor's note: This press release was submitted by the Dexter Community Band.

The Dexter Community Band will open their 30th season with a special Halloween concert at 3 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Dexter Center for the Performing Arts located inside .

The concert is free and open to the public, and audience members are encouraged to wear costumes, as band members will also perform in costume. Children in the audience will also be encouraged to participate in a costume parade on stage, accompanied by "haunting music" from the band.

This concert will include a guest performance by Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) member Jeffery Zook. Zook made his soloist debut with the DSO as a senior in high school in 1982. He has been a member of the DSO flute section since 1992. He will perform "Concerto in C Major" by Antonio Vivaldi, arranged by  Alford Reed.

"Night on Bald Mountain" by Modeste Moussorgsky will open the Sunday program.  Originally, "Night on Bald Mountain" was an orchestral piece inspired by a witches' sabbath. "March to the Scaffold" from "Symphonie Fantastique," by Hector Belrlioz is a familiar piece with a bit of a surprise at the end.
