Dexter United Methodist Church is holding a Habitat for Humanity benefit that includes an Italian dinner and a silent auction.
Since the late 1990s the fundraiser has helped raise nearly $80,000 for Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley and helped more than a dozen families on the road to homeownership.
The benefit has grown over the years. The first year's auction featured six items, and last year's had more than 140. Guests will be able to bid on a variety of things, including sporting goods and offers, gift certificates, lessons, cottage rentals, hand-knit items and plenty more. Bidding on the silent auction will take place from 3-7 p.m. A special children's auction is also part of the fun, and that will be held from 4:30-7 p.m.

The buffet dinner begins at 4:30 p.m. and includes salad, Chicken Cacciatore, Italian sausage, lasagna, pasta, pizza, bread sticks, dessert and beverage. Much of the food is home-cooked, and many area businesses help out with freebies and good deals to make the dinner and auction a success.
The price is $9 for adults, $8 seniors 60 and up, $5 children ages 5 to 12, and kids 4 and younger eat free. Dinner tickets will be available at the door.
