7 Dexter Groups Vie for $1,000 Aubree's Pizzeria Community Grant

Voting is open on the restaurant's Facebook page through March.

The polls are open and voting is currently underway for Aubree's Pizzeria's community grant contest.

Seven Dexter organizations are competing to win $1,000 from the local restaurant chain. The Dexter High School track and field team is in the lead as of Friday afternoon with 85 votes.

DHS Track Coach Doris Simmons said if the team wins, the money will be used to purchase new uniforms this year and warm-up uniforms in 2014.

Other groups in the running include: Mill Creek Middle School Art Department (59 votes), Dexter Band Boosters (46 votes), Wylie Elementary School's W-Y-L-I-E News Broadcast (13 votes), and Dexter Touchdown Club (11 votes).

The Mill Creek Middle School 8th Grade Math Department and the Dexter High School Baseball Program are both tied with zero votes each.

Aubree's President Andy French said he's excited to be partnering with the Dexter organizations in the online contest.

“Being tied to the community is very important to us," French said. “We like to support the people that support us on a regular basis."
