Chelsea Community Hospital Names New CEO

Nancy Kay Graebner will join the hospital staff in January 2012.

Nancy Kay Graebner has been named president and CEO of Chelsea Community Hospital to succeed Kathleen Griffiths, who will retire after 30 years of distinguished leadership at the end of 2011.

Graebner, currently the executive vice president of physician strategy and services for Bon Secours St. Francis Health System, Inc. in Greenville, SC., will officially join the hospital in January.

A native of Ann Arbor, Graebner brings more than 25 years of health system administration to the hospital. At Bon Secours St. Francis Health System, Graebner is responsible for physician market share and growth, medical staff development, recruitment, regulatory compliance and financial and operational management.

“I am honored to be presented this wonderful opportunity at Chelsea Community Hospital, and look forward to coming back home to Saint Joseph Mercy Health System,” Graebner said. “Chelsea Hospital has a long-standing reputation of providing exceptional patient care, and it gives me great pride to be a part of this growing, respected community hospital.”

David Killips, chairman of the hospital's board of trustees, said Graebner will be a great asset.

“Ms. Graebner’s extensive knowledge and experience in many different key areas will be an asset to Chelsea Community Hospital,” Killips said. “Her direction and expertise will allow the hospital to continue its mission of excellence for years to come.”

Graebner’s career in health care also includes serving as physician network executive for Ambulatory Management Services at Saint Joseph Mercy Health System in Ann Arbor, chief operating officer at Michigan Physician Services in Bloomfield Hills, and vice president of practice management at Health Directions, Inc. in Chicago, Ill.

Graebner holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Michigan.
