Dexter Chamber Partners with EMU Baseball Coach for Business 'Pep Rally'

Local business owners can talk with Jay Alexander for tips to grow commerce on Feb. 7.

The Dexter Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a buisness pep rally on Feb. 7 to help businesses market and promote the local community.

The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the newly opened Dexter Community Schools' Transportation Facility on Marshall Road, and will include a presentation by Jay Alexandar, head baseball coach for Eastern Michigan University.

"Jay has been instrumental in EMU's success both on and off the field. Coach Alexander will be speaking about how the Dexter Area Chamber of Commerce can utilize the 'team' concept as it continues to grow and prosper," the chamber said in a press release.

Bernadette Quist, the chamber's new executive director, will also be on hand to talk with business owners. Quist will replace Director Abby Goldberg, who is stepping down to move to Chicago with her husband in February.

"We want people to know why the chamber is here, and that our members are committed to the community," Quist said. "There are so many things going on in town now. We want to spread the word."

Quist said the event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.

"This is a great way to network," Quist said. "We would love to have input on what types of businesses residents would like to see come to our community."
