Dexter District Library Board to Hold Public Hearing on Internet Access and Safety Policy

The public can provide feedback about the policy at the hearing on Dec. 3.

The Dexter District Library Board of Trustees will hold a public hearing on the library’s Internet Access and Safety Policy on Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m.

The policy has been revised to comply with the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) and to help the library qualify for additional federal grant funding through the E-Rate program.

Minimal revisions to the library’s Internet Access and Safety Policy were required.

The policy addresses access by minor’s to inappropriate matter available on the
Internet, the safety and security of minors when using electronic mail, chat rooms, and other electronic communications, unauthorized access (including “hacking”) by minors, unauthorized disclosure, use and dissemination of personal information and measures designed to protect minors’ access to materials harmful to minors through the use of library Internet computers.
