"We play a lot of old jazz standards and Big Band music," Fogell said. "Every now and then we mix it up with some light pop tunes if a customer asks for a particular song."

Fogell and Johnson have been performing together for 30 years in bands around Washtenaw County, with a combined experience of more than 100 years.

"That's kind of scary to think about," Johnson joked.

The duo has built up an extensive library of tunes, ranging from "Emily" by Bill Evans, to "Till There Was You" from The Music Man.

As for their favorite song, Foggell said, "The song I'm working on at the time is my favorite."

Restaurant owner Beth Ziegler said the duo has become a popular attraction for customers.

"Our guests love hearing the band," she said. "Some have even brought their parents here just to enjoy the music."

In addition to performing at the Grand Traverse Pie Company, "Generations" can be heard on Saturdays from 6 to 9 p.m. at Terry B's in Dexter.
