Subway Restaurant Expands, Adds Third Location in Dexter

The sandwich shop will move into the Busch's shopping center on Dexter-Ann Arbor Road on Aug. 23.

The Subway restaurant chain is expanding again in Dexter and will add a third location in the village at the end of August.

A new franchise will open in the Busch's shopping center at 7050 Dexter-Ann Arbor Road. It will be managed by Shashi Patel, who also operates the at 8135 Main St.

"Our Main Street location doesn't have an indoor seating area, so we're not operating at our maximum efficiency," Patel said. "With a sit down area in the new restaurant, we can capitalize on the evening foot traffic in Dexter."

"We will serve all of the sandwiches, but with the added space, we will also offer Subway soups," Patel explained.

Patel has owned the the Main Street Subway for nine years and said he is excited to expand.

"We're looking to hire more employees," he said. "A lot of our help comes from Dexter High School students working summer or temporary jobs."

A second Subway is located inside the gas station at 750 Baker Road, however Patel said he isn't concerned about the proximity to the new restaurant.

"Subway did the research, and the company feels it can be successful with a third store," he said. "I love this town. Dexter has a lot of good people who want to see local businesses succeed."

The new Subway is expected to open Aug. 23. For employment opportunities, call 734-612-1202.
