Bakers and Bread Makers

Owl Hollow Bakery  - Dexter
Anne and Ed Young have been selling Anne's premium artisan breads and baked goods at the Dexter Farmers Market for the last 4 years.  Anne sells a variety of 9" fresh homemade pies that are incredibly good.  The day I interviewed her she was selling Rhubarb, Blueberry Peach and Cherry. She also sells mini pies and "pocket" or hand held pies. She uses only fresh fruit in season. Anne says that she tastes everything she bakes - if she doesn't like it, she doesn't sell it.
Anne's fresh breads are fantastic and she sells out every week.  Her most popular breads are Rosemary, cinnamon, multi-grain and Buttermilk Cheddar. She also sells sourdough breads, swedish rye and whole wheat baguettes.  In total Anne sells 8-10 varities of bread. Anne has freezer tested each of her breads to be certain they hold up and continue to taste good after freezing. If a loaf fails the test, Anne does not sell it. The other baked goods that Anne offers from week to week vary: large lucious scones (my usual Saturday breakfast), brownies or blondies, cookies, cinnamon rolls, melt in your mouth Streusel coffee cake by the slice and raspberry bars.
Anne's Owl Hollow Bakery booth at the Dexter Farmers Market is a joy to visit - her breads and baked goods are displayed in an orderly and elegant way.  She has an knack for packaging and marketing.  At Anne's booth you will find fresh coffee for $1.00 a cup, a full water dish and a bowl of dog treats for dog friends and lively conversation.  Anne's mother, Lenore, Anne's daughter Anya and grandaughter Giselle (18 months old) are usually helping Ed and Anne and make a lively and interesting group.
Anne's website is Owl Hollow Bakery.com - learn more about her baking business and special order if you wish. Anne also sells through Lunasa.com.

Pure Bread Baking Company - Dexter
Nino Buzzelli of Dexter has been selling his artisan breads at the Dexter Farmers Market for the last 3 years.  Everything that Nino sells is excellent but his Rosemary and his tomato Focaccio breads are his specialty.  They are beautiful and delicious and quickly sell out each Saturday.
Nino sells croissants, multi-grain breads, sourdough breads and French Bread Baguettes.  He makes and sells Basil Fettuccine noodles and Egg Fettuccine noodles.
Nino is now selling fresh mozzarella cheese that his sister makes.  It sells by the pound and is packed in plastic lidded containers.
Nino offers great customer service , answers questions, gives out generous samples and has a ready smile. Nino offers his customers a frequent buyer punch card.  Visit his booth at the south end of the market, ask about the punch card, taste his samples and buy his great products.
