Chocolate, Goodies and T-shirts

Mindo Chocolate Makers - Barbara Wilson

Mindo Chocolate Makers has been a vendor at the Dexter Farmers Market for the past four years.  Five years ago Barbara and her husband were living in Ecuador and discovered Ecuadorean cocoa beans and their use in making chocolate. They had never tasted a chocolate bar like the ones in Ecuador. And you have never tasted a chocolate bar like the ones that Mindo Chocolate Makers produce. In 2009, Barbara licensed her chocolate making business and now employs three full time chocolate makers. Mindo (pronounced Meando) chocolate products are made from cocoa beans that are harvested, fermented, dried and ground in Ecuador. Barbara buys directly from farmers in Ecuador and the processed beans are shipped to her here in Dexter to turn into her delicacies. At the Dexter Farmers Market at the Mindo Chocolate Makers booth you can buy Chocolate bars with 77% chocolate, chocolate for baking (100%), chocolate chunks, and a variety of chocolate bars. Mindo Chocolate Makers make nine different chocolate bars with locally grown fruit and organic almonds and hazelnuts. You can buy 100% pure Cocoa powder for baking or for making chocolate drinks. Food and Wine Magazine rates Mindo Chocolate Makers Cocoa powder top of the market. Mindo Chocolate is sold now in 60 retail markets - many within driving distance of the Market. Joe and Rosie coffee shop sells Mindo Chocolate. But come to the Dexter Farmers Market to buy your chocolate and stroll by other vendors and see what's available.

Amy's Treats - Amy Brooks

Amy's booth is NEW to Dexter Farmers Market. Welcome! Her booth of delicious single serving treats joined the Market Saturday September 14, 2013.  Amy is a Dexter resident whose neighbor had more apples and pears than she could handle.  So Amy gathered up the fruit, stacked it into her kitchen and started cooking. With the help of her sister Jean and her niece Anna, they cooked and tasted and tested and cooked and somewhere in the day decided to sell their treats at Dexter Farmers Market.
Last week Amy's booth offered fruit bars, molasses oatmeal cookies, apple muffins, apple caramel popcorn with dark chocolate chunks. Every item was packaged in a single serving size wrapped and bowed and beautifully presented.
Amy passed out samples of her products to other vendors - her stuff is really GOOD!. Welcome Amy, Jean and Anna.

Simple Bird Creations - Robin Leach

This is Robin's first year as a vendor at Dexter Farmers Market.  Robin's booth offers homemade sugar scrubs for bathing, handmade cards, handmade jewelry and screen printed T-shirts.  Robin's jewelry is unique and a lot of it is made from recycled materials.
The products Robin is proudest of are her screen printed T-shirts.  The shirts are a prewashed cotton blend and come in sizes XS - 2XL.  They are printed with different images and slogans - all of which display Robin's sense of humor and whimsy (some even glow in the dark). Now that fall has arrived, Robin is selling LS Hoodie T-shirts.  If you wish to special order T-shirts or other products from Robin, contact her at simplebirdcreations@gmail.com. Or look for her wares on Etsy.com

The Dexter Farmers Market is bursting with apples and pumpkins and squash of all kinds.

There will be a canning demonstration at the Market on Saturday September 28 - I'll post the time next week.
