Dexter Producers of Produce at the Dexter Farmers Market

The produce booth that Aric Van Natter and his wife M'lis Bartlett run is located at the north end of the market. There you can buy colorful and healthy home grown vegetables, pasture fed chickens and their eggs and Suzanne Van Natter's (Aric's mom) delicious Bread and Butter Pickles. You can also buy tomatoes, cucumbers and cabbages. You'll find 3-4 varieties of squash and all types of fresh herbs.  As M'lis likes to say "We sell all the ingredients for a terrific Taboulie." You can arrange with Aric to purchase his produce by the bushel for canning and freezing.

Aric was raised in Dexter and has been selling his produce, chickens and eggs at the Dexter Farmers Market for 8 years.  This year Aric and M'lis are offering a Poultry CSA (Community Share Agriculture)- a package of 10 chickens and 20 dz eggs in a year - these can be picked up through out your CSA year at their Joy Rd. farm. I regularly buy Aric's chickens - fresh or frozen
they taste better than any store bought.

Jeff Peters has been selling his produce at the market for 5 years.  Jeff's booth is distinguished by his brilliant array of cut flowers. These flowers are packed in generous, colorful bunches and kept very fresh at the market.
They really are breathtaking and last a long time in water at home. You will also find Heirloom tomatoes - Jeff grows 10 varieties, large yellow onions and an expansive variety of fresh greens.

Jeff was raised in Dexter and grows his produce and flowers on his 3 acre farm in Dexter.  He has a background in Horticulture and landscaping. Jeff says it was a natural transition to growing and selling flowers and produce.

In the Fall, Jeff will again be selling his beautiful, clean and healthy lettuces.
In the early summer, his lettuce display looked like a work of art. Jeff sells shellacked gourds he has fashioned into unique birdhouses.  Shop at Jeff's booth and meet his wonderful assistant - niece Katherine.

The third produce booth highlighted here is Rulig's.  Rulig produce has been available in the Dexter area for at least 15 years and is known and consumed by many. The Rulig family farms a lot of acres and is therefore able to provide buyers at the market with fresh picked sweet corn. Honestly  the Rulig truck typically arrives mid way through the market morning to deliver just picked corn. The Rulig booth offers several types of fresh melons
delivered market morning from their melon farm in Carleton.

Notes: Remember that Bridge, SNAP and Senior EBT cards can be used at the Dexter Farmers Market. Remember that every other week you can fill out a raffle ticket and win a basket filled with market wares (to be picked up the following week).

Highlight for next week will be the Bread and Bakery Booths.
