Here is a look at what's going on today around the Dexter area.

Today we've included a weather update, gas prices and some suggestions on how to spend your day.

1. The weather

The National Weather Service predicts an 80 percent chance of rain and snow, becoming all rain after 1 p.m., with a high near 40 degrees. Tuesday night there is a chance of rain and snow showers before midnight, then a chance of snow showers.

2. Dexter School Board public hearing

Dexter Community Schools officials will address the district's anti-bullying policy at a public hearing set for tonight at 7 p.m. After the public hearing, the Dexter Community Schools Board of Education will discuss the proposed policy and offer feedback, as well. Policy feedback can be submitted online.

3. Enjoy fresh paczki

It's fat Tuesday! The Dexter Bakery and Busch's will be selling paczki until they sell out. The bakery opens at 5 a.m. today.

MichiganGasPrices.com reports the following gasoline prices in the Dexter area as of Monday night:

  • $3.44 a gallon (regular), $3.93 (diesel), BP, 200 Baker Rd.
  • $3.45 a gallon (regular), Sunoco, 2940 Baker Rd.
  • $3.45 a gallon (regular), $3.93 (diesel), Pilot Service Station, 195 Baker Rd.
  • $3.45 a gallon (regular), $3.93 (diesel), Pilot Service Station, 750 Baker Rd.
  • $3.49 a gallon (regular), BP, 8135 Main St.
  • $3.49 a gallon (regular), $3.89 (diesel) Mobil, 7177 Dexter-Ann Arbor Rd.

5. This day in history

Feb. 21, 1965: Civil Rights leader Malcolm X, an African American nationalist, was assassinated by rival Black Muslims while addressing his Organization of Afro-American Unity at the Audubon Ballroom in New York, according to History.com.
