1. The weather

The National Weather Service predicts Friday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 81 degrees. Friday night will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 62 degrees.

2. Civil War Days concert

opens Friday evening with the Towne Band performing a free concert on the front lawn of Gordon Hall at 7 p.m. The period performers play on 1860s Civil War-era instruments with a narrative to accompany the music. Also performing is the St. Patrick's Boychoir, comprised of boys ages 8-12. Visitors are asked to bring blankets and chairs for seating. Gordon Hall is located just outside the Village of Dexter, at 8341 Island Lake Road.

3. Last Chance: Nunsense at the Encore Musical Theatre

The cast and crew of will wrap up its run at the Encore Theatre in Dexter this weekend. Performances are 8 p.m. Friday, 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, and 3 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets can be purchased at www.theencoretheatre.org.

4. Gas prices

MichiganGasPrices.com reports the following gasoline prices in the Dexter area as of Thursday night:

5. This day in history

June 8, 1984: On this day in 1984, the now-classic comedy Ghostbusters was released in theaters across the country. Ghostbusters starred Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis as disgraced parapsychology professors in New York City who turn to “paranormal investigation” to make money.
