5 Things You Need to Know Today: March 12

Here is a look at what's going on today around the Dexter area.

1. The weather

The National Weather Service is predicting rain showers today, with thunderstorms possible after 3 p.m. Temperatures will remain in the low 60s throughout the day. Monday night there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight.

2. Register for spring storytimes

The is holding registration for spring storytime hour. Toddler storytime for children 18 months to age 3 will take place Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday at 10:30 a.m.; preschool storytime for ages 3 to 5 will take place Monday or Thursday at 11:30 a.m. or Tuesday at 1 p.m. Combined storytimes for children 18 months to age 5 will take place Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. Spring storytimes will begin the week of March 26 and run for eight weeks until May 14.

3. Chelsea Sounds & Sights auditions

Auditions for the 2012 Sounds & Sights concert series in Chelsea will take place today from 5 to 8 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Chelsea, 128 Park St. For more information, e-mail info@chelseafestivals.com.
