After a tornado touched down in Dexter Thursday, here is some information that can help you get through Friday.

1. The weather

Winds should be calm in Dexter today. The National Weather Service is predicting today will be partly sunny with a high near 76 degrees. Tonight will be mostly cloudy with a low around 55.

2. School is out for Dexter Community Schools

School is out for students in Dexter Community Schools. will be open from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for students who want to talk to a counselor or a teacher.

3. Where to find shelter

Residents affected by the tornado can go to  at 7305 Dexter Ann Arbor Rd. and receive health and mental health services as well as food, water and basic needs provided by the Red Cross.

The Red Cross is also partnering with the Salvation Army at 100 Arbana Drive in Ann Arbor to help residents just outside Dexter who have flooding issues. For information, call 734-668-8353.

4. How you can help

Jenni Hawes, of the Washtenaw Chapter of the Red Cross, said the best thing people can do to help is donate to the local Red Cross disaster relief fund. This will help them provide the services needed at the shelters. To donate you can call 734-971-5300, or donate online at www.wc-redcross.org.

5. Store your food

More than 3,000 Dexter DTE customers were Thursday night. in Dexter is offering residents space to store food in their coolers and freezers.
