5 Things You Need to Know Today: March 23

Here is a look at what's going on today around the Dexter area.

1. The weather

The National Weather Service is predicting a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m., with a high near 73 degrees. Friday night there is an 80 percent chance of rain with a low around 52 degrees.

2. Dexter Drama Club 3D series

The is presenting its student-directed theatre series beginning today. Today's shows begin at 7 p.m. and include John Tucker Must Die, directed by Sara Zadrzynski and Alex Semifero, Think Fast, directed by Jacob Dishman, and Alone or Alone, directed by Jennifer Stirling. Tickets are $5 per person. All performances are inside the Copeland Auditorium.

The Dexter District Library will host a Hunger Games Party at 4 p.m. for grades 5 through 12. Play games for a chance to win movie theater tickets and other fun prizes. Registration is required.

March 23, 1983: In an address to the nation, President Ronald Reagan proposed that the United States embark on a program to develop antimissile technology that would make the country nearly impervious to attack by nuclear missiles.
