1. The weather

The National Weather Service predicts today will be sunny, with a high near 77 degrees. Monday night rain is likely, with a low around 54 degrees.

2. Author presentation

Professor David L. Holmes will lead a discussion on the topic "The Faiths Of The Postwar Presidents: From Truman to Obama” at the Ann Arbor District Library, 343 S. Fifth Ave. today at 7 p.m.

Holmes is known for his acclaimed 2006 book "The Faiths of the Founding Fathers," a look at the spiritual beliefs of such iconic Americans as Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, and Thomas Jefferson. With the same judicious approach, Holmes examines the role of faith in the lives of the 12 presidents who have served since the end of World War II, in "The Faiths Of The Postwar Presidents: From Truman to Obama."

3. Lafontaine Open House

LaFontaine Chevrolet will hold an open house on Sept. 19 from 5:30-7 p.m. Come and enjoy pizza from Aubree's and Sam’s Club desserts. Donations will be collected for The American Breast Cancer Society.

Sept. 17, 1862: On this day in 1862, at the Battle of Antietam, Confederate General Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia and Union General George B.
