1. The weather

The National Weather Service predicts a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9 a.m. Thursday night will be partly cloudy, with a low around 55 degrees.

2. Mill Creek Middle School Curriculum Night

Parents are invited to attend Mill Creek’s Curriculum Night, from 7-9 p.m. This is an opportunity for you to meet your child’s teachers, learn about the curriculum and grading procedures, and how to stay abreast of your child’s academic progress.

3. Home Heating Credit

Low income Michigan residents still have time to apply for a home heating credit. Applicants must fill out the home heating credit form by Sept. 30. Home heating credits are processed by the Michigan Department of Treasury. Residents can get the form at www.michigan.gov/taxes, or by calling 517-636-4486.

4. Gas prices

MichiganGasPrices.com reports the following gasoline prices in the Dexter area as of Wednesday night:

  • $4.04 a gallon (regular) BP, 200 Baker Rd.
  • $4.19 a gallon (regular), , 2940 Baker Rd.
  • $4.05 a gallon (regular), , 195 Baker Rd.
  • $4.05 a gallon (regular), , 750 Baker Rd.

5. This day in history

Sept. 6, 1901: On this day, President William McKinley was shot at the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, NY. McKinley was greeting the crowd in the Temple of Music when Leon Czolgosz, an anarchist, stepped forward and shot the president twice at point-blank range.
