1. The weather

The National Weather Service predicts showers likely today, mainly after 5 p.m. Friday night there is a 90 percent chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm, with a low around 57 degrees.

2. Dexter High School football

It's Friday, and that means high school football returns to Dexter. The Dreadnaughts will take on Ann Arbor Skyline tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Al Ritt Field.

3. Dexter Village taxes due

Village taxes are due on Sept. 14. After this date a 1 percent per month penalty will be applied to the balance due. Tax information for the village and the townships can be found year round at - http://villageofdexter.org/administration/finance/taxes.htm.

4. Gas prices

MichiganGasPrices.com reports the following gasoline prices in the Dexter area as of Thursday night:

  • $4.04 a gallon (regular) BP, 200 Baker Rd.
  • $4.19 a gallon (regular), , 2940 Baker Rd.
  • $3.99 a gallon (regular), , 195 Baker Rd.
  • $3.99 a gallon (regular), , 750 Baker Rd.

5. This day in history

Sept. 7, 1996: On this day, actor and hip-hop recording artist Tupac Shakur was shot several times in Las Vegas, Nevada, after attending a boxing match. Shakur was riding in a black BMW with Death Row Records founder Marion "Suge" Knight when a white Cadillac sedan pulled alongside and fired into Shakur's car.
