9/11 Commemorations Slated in Dexter

Here is a look at some of the events planned in Dexter for the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

A number of events are planned in Dexter this weekend to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks against the United States.

Firefighters, police officers, first responders and members of the community are invited to attend a special ceremony at 10 a.m. Sunday at the church. Emergency responders will be recognized, and a PowerPoint photo collage of Sept. 11, 2001, will be broadcast. A free pancake breakfast will follow the service.

Dexter United Methodist Church will host a presentation titled "Unpacking Islam" featuring Lee Strobel and Mark Mittelberg. Strobel and Mittleberg will talk about Islam through their interviews with Muslim experts. The event is free and open to the public. The presentation will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday.

  • 9/11 Service of Remembrance

in Dexter will host a 9/11 memorial service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the gazebo in Monument Park. Members of the community are invited to attend.

There will be a special recital sponsored by the Hudson Education Center. This concert is free and will feature instrumental and vocal soloists from the Dexter Community Schools. Refreshments will be served. The concert begins at 2 p.m. Sunday.
