Apple Daze, Pumpkinfest Offer Variety of Children's Activities

Here's a look at some family-friendly events going on around the Dexter area this week.

There's plenty going on in Dexter this week to keep the children occupied. Head to the homecoming game Friday night or enjoy the sights and sounds of Apple Daze throughout downtown on Saturday.

  • Book Snackers

Where/when: Dexter District Library, 4:30 p.m. Wednesday

Why go? Children in Grades 3-5 are invited to discuss the book Get to Work, Hercules! by Kat McMullan. Registration is required for this event. Call 734-426-4477.

  • Dexter Athletic Boosters' Tailgate Party

Where/when: Al Ritt Field behind , 5-7 p.m. Friday

Why go? Pack up the whole family and head to the field for some pregame tailgating fun. This year’s football tailgate is sponsored by Dexter’s Pub. There will be outdoor cooking, games, a moonwalk, live music and lots of great food including hot dogs, fried chicken, beans, coleslaw, chips, dessert and beverages.

Cost: $6 per person

  • Apple Daze in Dexter

Where/when: , 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday

Why go? All the action will be downtown Saturday as the community gathers to celebrate the fall. There will be games, craft booths, hayrides and plenty of food. You can also enjoy the Lions Club classic car show as well as a pie-eating contest. 

Pricing: Admission is free

  • South Lyon Area Pumpkinfest

Where/when: Downtown South Lyon, Saturday and Sunday

Why go? Enjoy exciting children's activities including carnival games, inflatables and movie night as well as craft shows, pet adoptions, live music and great food. Visit the event website for more information and a schedule of events.

  • Jenny's Corn Maze

Where/when: , 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday-Sunday

Why go? Enjoy fresh cider and doughnuts, a corn maze, petting farm and other children's activities.
