Coconut Cinnamon Chocolate Chip Cookies Take Top Prize in Patch Recipe Contest

The recipe was submitted by Erin Paup of Upstream Investment Partners in Dexter.

It's wonderful learning what other people bake for the holidays. This year, Patch asked residents in Dexter and Chelsea to share their tried and true holiday cookie recipes for a chance to win a $50 gift certificate from Artistica.

Erin Paup of Upstream Investment Partners won the grand prize for her coconut cinnamon chocolate chip cookies. Paup received 16 online votes and 14 in-person votes for a total of 30 votes.

"I had a lot of fun participating in the cookie contest. Everyone's cookies were delicious," Paup said. "I really hope the Dexter Patch hosts the contest again next year. I know that some lucky members of my family will be getting some lovely Christmas gifts from Artistica."

Of her cookies, Paup said she loves the combination of cinnamon and chocolate.

"I decided I would just add some to a regular chocolate chip cookie recipe. The original recipe called for almond extract which I was out of so in went the coconut extract in it's place. And that's how our favorite chocolate chip cookie was born," she said.
