Dexter, Chelsea Host Joint Golf Fundraiser

Thirty-six teams will hit the greens for 18 holes of golf June 7 for the Dexter-Chelsea Dual Golf Outing at Reddeman Farms Golf Club, 555 Dancer Rd. in Chelsea.

Proceeds from the outing, which organizers hope will become an annual event, will benefit local programs in both communities.

"We are really excited to be partnering with the Chelsea Chamber of Commerce," said Abby Erickson, executive director of the Dexter Area Chamber of Commerce. "Chelsea has been a great friend of the Dexter Chamber for a long time. We have wanted to co-host a networking event, and this just seemed to fit."

Erickson said all team slots are filled, and sponsorships for the event have begun to trickle in.

"Both Dexter and Chelsea have and a great response in terms of teams and sponsorships merging this event has been a factor in that," Erickson said. "Many businesses love the idea of a larger networking pool, and we are excited to offer that to our members."

The event kicks off with registration at 8 a.m. and breakfast sponsored by Chelsea Community Hospital. The driving range will be open for practice, followed by a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Golfers will enjoy snacks on the course, beverages and a lunch buffet.

Along with 18 holes of golf, there will be several challenges for golfers to compete in, including two hole-in-one chances, along with a final event of the day that will be unveiled at the tournament.

"After all, we will need to determine who wins the overall event, Dexter or Chelsea," Erickson said.

This year's sponsors include Chelsea Rhone Insurance, Jet’s Pizza, Chelsea Family Dentistry and Lafontaine Chevrolet in Dexter.

Golf hole tee box sponsorships are still available for $150, and the chambers are also seeking prize donations.

"We will continue to accept sponsorships up until the event," Erickson said.
