Dexter-Chelsea Patch Editor Takes on New Role

Editor Daniel Lai will transfer to Dearborn on March 18.

Goodbyes are not my strong suit. In fact, often I try to avoid them at all cost. They are necessary, however, especially when one seeks closure among friends.

This column represents a closure in some sense for my career, but its also a new beginning.

After serving for more than two years as the editor of Dexter Patch, which added Chelsea to its coverage area last year, I am happy to announce that I am taking on a new role within the company.

Beginning today, I have been appointed the editor of Dearborn Patch and will be moving shortly to that community in the coming weeks.

Over the years, I've met so many interesting people in Dexter and Chelsea with such fascinating stories to tell. I'll admit that leaving our community for a much larger urban area is a little frightening. I've never been one to shy away from a challenge, however.

Our work in Dexter and Chelsea is not done.

Our community members have always been important to Patch and now we want to focus on getting all of you onto the site, sharing the news and information that's important to you.

Sponsoring a community meeting or involved with a fundraiser? Post it on Patch's event calendar. That way, your event will be highlighted on our homepage, in our daily e-newsletter and in our calendar of events.

Looking for volunteers, have a cool school award to announce or have an upcoming garage sale? Post an announcement on Patch to let others know about it. By doing so, your post will receive exposure on our homepage, in our daily e-newsletter and in our announcements section.

Passionate about a certain topic or just want to weigh in on something that's on your mind? Post a blog on Patch. Blogging is a great way of getting your message, in your own words, out to our readers. You can blog once a week, once a day or whenever the inspiration hits you. (Blogging also is a great way for organizations and businesses to share their press releases. A simple copy and paste and voilà, your blog is posted to the site, where you can share it with the world.)

Enjoy shooting photos around Dexter or Chelsea? We'd love to see them and have made adding them to our site easy as ever. Just head to our Pics & Clips gallery and upload all those great shots you've taken.

Beginning this week, Editors Brooke Meier and Rebecca Jaskot will also be stepping up to help add additional coverage to Dexter and Chelsea Patch sites. Both are wonderfully talented and more than capable of giving you all the news, features and information you need about Dexter and Chelsea.

Here at Patch, we're all about providing you the news and information about what's going on around you, but we also invite you, our readers, to get involved and become part of the conversation, as well.

Please reach out to us with any questions you have about becoming involved with Patch. You can reach Brooke at brooke.meier@patch.com.

News tips should continue to be sent to dexter@patch.com.

Take care of yourselves!

Daniel
