Dexter Churches Offer Ash Wednesday Services

Plan ahead for Wednesday and attend one of several Christian services in town.

In the Christian Church, Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent, the season of preparation for the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday. Here is a look at service schedules for churches in the Dexter area.

Mass with ashes will take place at the village church, 3430 Dover St. in Dexter, at 8:15 a.m. A scripture service and ashes will take place at the village church at 12:15 p.m. There will also be mass and ashes at the country church, 6805 Mast Rd. in Dexter, at 7 p.m. A soup and bread supper will take place at 5 p.m. in the parish center.

Ash Wednesday service will take place at 7 p.m. at the church. A fellowship dinner will take place at 5:30 p.m.

Ash Wednesday dinner will be held at 6 p.m. followed by a service at 7 p.m.

The church will hold a gourmet pancake and sausage dinner open to the public at 6 p.m. followed by Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m.

  • Christ the King Catholic Church

The masses on Ash Wednesday will be at 6:45 a.m., noon, and 7:30 p.m. Deacons will also be available in the Parish Center between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to distribute ashes to those who are unable to attend one of the scheduled masses.

St. James Episcopal Church will have an Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m. The church is located at 3279 Broad St. in Dexter.
