The Dexter District Library will host a blood drive for the Washtenaw County Red Cross on Dec. 13.
The blood drive will take place from 11 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. in the library’s lower level meeting rooms.
New and existing donors are encouraged to sign up or drop in to give blood.
The Red Cross will be collecting whole blood, which will be used to help individuals in Southeast Michigan who need transfusions during surgeries, as a result of accidents, or as a part of ongoing medical treatments.
New donors are encouraged to stop in during the day of the drive. Existing donors may schedule an appointment time in advance on the Red Cross web site, www.redcrossblood.org. Use the sponsor code "dexterlibrary" to locate the drive.
Advance scheduling will ensure shorter wait times. During the event, each donor will be entered into a drawing for a $500 Visa card.
