Dexter Easter Egg Hunt Draws Hundreds to Community Park

The annual event featured face painting, games and a visit by the Easter Bunny.

More than 200 children converged on on Saturday to snatch up as many colorful plastic eggs as they could get their hands on during the Village of Dexter's annual Easter egg hunt.

Allison Bishop, community development director, said the hunt, which was slated to begin at 10:30 a.m., was over in less than five minutes.

"It’s a good time for all of the kids to get together and hunt," trustee Jim Carson said. "It’s a good way to start Easter. Hopefully this will continue to be a tradition in our community."

Trustee Paul Cousins said sunny skies and temperatures hovering in the mid-60s helped draw crowds to the park.

"There was a great turnout," Cousins said. "The credit really goes to Allison (Bishop), the Parks and Recreation Department, Dexter Lions Club and the Rotary Club. This is what Dexter is all about. The community comes together whether it's after a tornado or to celebrate the Easter holiday."
