Dexter Lions Plan Classic Car Show for Apple Daze

LaFontaine Chevrolet will judge the competition on Oct. 1.

Classic car owners will cruise into Dexter on Oct. 1 for the second annual Apple Daze Car Show on Central Street.

The show, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., is just one of several activities planned for the fall festival.

"We are looking for anyone who has older cars to come participate," event organizer Dennis Berry said. "We'll take anything from antique cars to Duesenbergs and Ferraris."

Registration for the event is ongoing and costs $5.

Dash plaques will be given to all registered entries and trophies will be awarded in the categories of Best of Show, Best Street Rod and Best Restored. Representatives of , which is sponsoring the contest, will judge the cars.

"We're hoping to keep the car show growing," Berry said. "Last year we had 30 registered cars, but we had some horrible weather and only 17 hardcore enthusiasts showed up."

The car show will take place behind on Central Street. An awards ceremony is scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
