The National Weather Service predicts a 30 percent chance of snow showers after noon, with partly sunny skies and a high near 35 degrees. Tonight there is a 50 percent chance of snow, cloudy with a low around 26 degrees.

2. Parent information series: Surviving Adolescence

Presented by Anne Kramer from the University of Michigan's Depression Center, this presentation will focus on depression in young children. The event takes place at from 7-8:30 p.m.

3. St. Andrew's Piece-makers quilt group meets

5. This day in history:

Dec. 8, 1980: John Lennon, a former member of the Beatles, was shot and killed by Mark David Chapman, an obsessed fan in New York City. Lennon was entering his Manhattan apartment building when Chapman shot him four times at close range with a .38-caliber revolver.
