Five Things You Need to Know Today: Jan. 2

Here is a look at what's going on today around the Dexter area.

1. The weather

The National Weather Service predicts a 30 percent chance of snow showers today, with temperatures falling to around 23 degrees by 5 p.m.

2. Register for story times at the library

Registration begins for winter story tiimes today at the Toddler story times for ages 18 months to 3 will take place Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Preschool story times for ages 3 to 5 will take place Monday or Thursday at 11:30 a.m. or Tuesday at 1 p.m. Combined story times for ages 18 months to 5 will take place Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. Winter story times will begin the week of Jan. 16 and run for eight weeks until March 8.

3. Village offices closed

The Dexter Village offices are closed today in observance of the new year holiday. Christmas tree collection will begin on Tuesday. There is not a set schedule – trees will be picked up as necessary. Please do not bag your trees and make sure all tinsel and ornaments have been removed.

MichiganGasPrices.com reports the following gasoline prices in the Dexter area as of Sunday night:
