Five Things You Need to Know Today: Sept. 30

Here is a look at what's going on today in Dexter.

We've got weather, gas prices and some suggestions on how to spend your day.

1. The weather

The National Weather Service predicts a 90 percent chance of rain on Friday with temperatures falling to around 46 degrees by 4 p.m. Friday night there is a 40 percent chance of showers with a low around 34 degrees.

2. Dexter Homecoming Parade

The Dexter Homecoming Parade is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. The parade will begin at and travel south to Main Street to Baker Road. The parade is scheduled to last 45 minutes. Main Street between Dexter-Chelsea and Baker roads and Baker Road between Main Street and Dan Hoey Road will be closed beginning at 1:40 p.m. until the conclusion of the parade. This includes the intersections, side streets and parking lots with entrances onto Main Street and Baker Road.

3. Athletic Booster Club of Dexter Tailgate Party

The Athletic Booster Club of Dexter will hold a prior to the Dexter High School varsity football team's home game against Tecumseh. The fundraiser will take place from 5-7 p.m. at the varsity football field located at 2615 Baker Rd. The cost is $6 and includes your choice of fried chicken donated by Dexter's Pub or a hot dog donated by Dexter's A&W, coleslaw, chips or pork and beans, a beverage and dessert.

4. Gas prices

On the road today? MichiganGasPrices.com reports the following gas prices in the Dexter area as of Thursday night:

  • $3.35 a gallon, , 195 Baker Rd.
  • $3.35 a gallon, , 750 Baker Rd.
  • $3.38 a gallon, BP, 200 Baker Rd.
  • $3.39 a gallon, , 6100 Dexter-Pinckney Rd.
  • $3.45 a gallon, , 8135 Main St.
  • $3.54 a gallon, , 7177 Dexter-Ann Arbor Rd.
