Five Things You Need to Know: Week of April 18

Here's a rundown of what's going on in Dexter this week.

From Easter egg hunts to musicals, Dexter Patch is your source of local events going on around town this week.

1. Paint the Town Purple for Relay for Life

Show your support for Relay for Life and help paint the town purple this week.  Organizers will adorn trees and lampposts with purple ribbons and will decorate the gazebo in Monument Park with purple lights. Get your purple Hope T-shirt for $10 by contacting Juli Huddleston at huddlestonjuli@gmail.com. Decorate your buildings, windows and porches to support Relay for Life. 2. Spring Music Concerts at Cornerstone Elementary

  first-grade students will present their spring music program at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The event is free and open to the public.

3. Forever Plaid opens at The Encore

is a goofy and charming story of an all-male singing group from the 1950s who come back from "The Great Beyond" to perform the show of their lifetimes. The production opens Thursday and runs through May 15. Tickets cost $28 for adults 18 and older, $25 for seniors 55 and older and $25 for ages 17 and younger. 4. Fellowship Dinner and Maundy Thursday service at Dexter United Methodist Church

The cost for dinner is $6 per person or $24 per family. This week’s menu includes oven-roasted turkey, matzo, redskin potatoes, salad, broccoli, chicken tenders for the children and various cakes for dessert. Stay after dinner for the Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Dinner is served at 5:30 p.m. Contact 734-426-8480, for more information.

5. Dexter Village Easter Egg Hunt

Dexter will hold its first Easter egg hunt Saturday at . The event, designed for children 10 and younger, will be held from 10 a.m.-noon. Children can hunt for eggs, have their faces painted and even meet the Easter bunny. Street parking will be very limited, but additional parking will be available at off Dexter-Ann Arbor Road. Advance tickets cost $2 and may be purchased at the village offices, 8140 Main St. Tickets will be available at the event for $3.
