Five Things You Need to Know: Week of Feb. 7

Here is a brief look at what is going on around Dexter this week.

 1. Trivia Night at Breakaway Restaurant (Arctic Coliseum) in Chelsea

Play trivia from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. for free on Thursday at the Breakaway Restaurant inside the Artic Coliseum, 501 Coliseum Dr. in Chelsea. No registration is required.  Call the Breakaway Restaurant at 734-475-9999 for more information.

 2. Family Folk Dancing

 in Dexter will hold a folk dancing workshop from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. Call Bates for more information, 734-424-4130.

3. Project Night at Cornerstone Elementary School

Too much to do and too little time? Pack up your to do list items and head to cafeteria Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. for a night of getting things done: knitting, scrapbooking, calendar management, etc. 

The cost is $7 per person which includes half of one average-sized cafeteria table.  This is not a drop-in event. You must pay the table fee at Cornerstone’s office no later than Tuesday in order to secure a space.  Cash or check (made out to Dexter Community Schools) is accepted.  On-site child care is available.  Contact Christy Vander Haagen at Christy@redlinetuning.com or 734-726-5056 for more information or to register.  All funds raised benefit student programs and teacher grants.

4. Hudson Mills Metropark presents “Better To Eat You With”

Kids of all ages will explore and learn about a variety of skulls during this hands-on indoor program.  Small, big, pointed and flat teeth come in all shapes and sizes.  The event takes place at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hudson Mills in Dexter and costs $3 per person. Registration is required.  Call 734-426-8211 to register.  

5. ‘Water Wonders!’ comes to Dexter District Library

Take the kids, ages 6 and older, to the library Saturday for a morning of science fun.  "Water Wonders" is a hands-on workshop presented by the University of Michigan Exhibit Museum of Natural History.  The program begins at 10 a.m.  Registration is required.
