Get Out: 5 Things to Do This Weekend

Here's a look at some activities going on in the Dexter area.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

1. Nevermore at the Encore Musical Theatre

Where/When: , 3126 Broad St., will present a new musical on the life of Edgar Allen Poe showing at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Why go?: Known for its stellar productions, any performance by Encore is a must-see. Nevermore is as dark and mysterious as the person it is about, Edgar Allan Poe. Using a combination of Poe’s writing and music, Nevermore will leave audiences asking for more.

2. Education Foundation of Dexter auction

Where/When: Ann Arbor Country Club, 4699 E. Loch Alpine Dr. in Ann Arbor, beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Why go?: Proceeds from the auction and strolling supper help benefit teacher programs at Dexter Community Schools.

3. Open swim

Where/When: , 2-4 p.m. Saturday.

Why go?: What better way to celebrate the last day of winter than by taking a dip in the pool?

Pricing: $3.

4. Folktale story hour

Where/when: , 11 a.m. Saturday.

Why go?: Drop-in for story time and crafts.

Pricing: Free.

5. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Roderick Rules movie release party

Where/When: Borders in Ann Arbor at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Why go?: Children who have read and love the Wimpy Kid books may enjoy celebrating the release of the second movie about the series with trivia, games and more.
